The Man Who Died Twice by Richard Osman: 4****

Book Cover

It has been a few months since we last read about things at Cooper’s Chase and the Thursday Murder Club. One of their members has died, that happens when you live at a seniors retirement center, but for the remaining 4 members there is plenty of action. There are two parallel matters that they are now involved with. The first involves Ibrahim, a retired psychotherapist, and who is mugged right outside of the police station! He is seriously injured both physically and emotionally and the remaining three members (Elizabeth, Joyce and Ron) are busy helping the police catch the assailant. The Elizabeths ex-husband shows up and is involved in both stealing $20 Million in diamonds plus dead bodies keep popping up. For a group of septuagenarians this is one busy group and they all use their unique talents and abilities to resolve the issues before them.
This is the 2nd book in the series and you can tell the author really enjoys these characters and intrigue they are involved with. Not only that, it is refreshing to have a mystery series that features older characters, all of whom use their years of experience to figure out how to handle matters and assist the authorities in these cases. All in all a very well written and entertaining mystery series, with nothing that is objectionable to readers – unless you have an aversion to a few dead bodies!
